StormJewel asks which tarot spread to lay, with four choices: Three Card Reading, The Lovers Spread, Finding Love and Crossroads Decision Spread

How a reading works

Get your first tarot answer in under 20 seconds.

  1. Tell StormJewel your name or nickname and what’s on your mind.
  2. She shuffles, and you choose your own cards.
  3. The app draws your cards for real, from all 78, before the AI sees them. If you ask ChatGPT for a reading, it works the other way round. It makes up a story first, then picks cards to fit it.
  4. StormJewel reads each card for your question and relative to its place in the spread, then she sums up what the cards are telling you.
  5. Want to go deeper? You can draw an insight card, or ask a follow-up question.
  6. StormJewel offers another perspective, personalised advice, and suggestions, based on her real-world reading experience and wellbeing knowledge, so you can choose your own fate.
  7. Want to reflect on your reading? Take some time in the Moon room with music and affirmations, or try a rune, astrology or numerology reading with another of the Love Queen’s House Guardians.

Clarifier and follow-up questions and chat

When you ask StormJewel a follow-up question, she keeps your cards on the table, so that her answer builds on your reading. With each follow-up question you can draw a new card until the table is full.

Once full, you can still ask her questions, and for advice and practical suggestions.

You can ask about love, career and money, a decision you’re stuck on, or almost anything you’d like guidance on! Yes or no questions work too. StormJewel tells you which way the cards lean, and why.

Here’s some example questions to inspire you, but you can ask much more:

  • Do they like/love me?
  • How do they feel about me?
  • Is s/he/they the right person for me?
  • Will my ex and I get back together?
  • Why does he/she/they play games with me or go hot and cold?
  • When will I meet someone special?
  • Are we compatible in love?
  • Can I trust them?
  • Which opportunity in work or travel should I take?
  • What can I do to find more purpose and meaning in life?
  • How can I meet some new friends?
  • Help me explore my career or study options

Go much more in depth if you want, explain context, nuances, situations, whatever you like!

What StormJewel won’t read about

StormJewel reads with care, so a few things are off the table:

  • Health - She won’t predict an illness, a diagnosis, a pregnancy, or whether a treatment will work. She’ll still talk with you about how you’re feeling and coping, and point you to a doctor for the health part.
  • Death - She never predicts anyone’s death.
  • Legal and financial advice - She can read your situation, but she doesn’t give legal or financial advice.
  • Your big decisions - She won’t push you to stay in or leave a relationship or tell you what to do. The choice is always yours.
  • Your safety - If you say someone is hurting, threatening or controlling you, she’ll tell you where to find help first.
  • Crisis support - If your question sounds like you’re in crisis or thinking of harming yourself, the app gives you a message about finding a crisis helpline instead of a reading.

StormJewel’s hand written card meanings

StormJewel has read tarot for over 30 years, and for more than 15 of them professionally. She wrote the meanings for all 78 cards (based on the Rider-Waite-Smith deck and her own associations), with specific interpretations for love, career and money. She may pick out a small piece of imagery from a card’s picture, and explain the symbolism and how it relates to your question.

The Rider-Waite-Smith deck and Pamela Colman Smith

StormJewel loves the Rider-Waite-Smith deck for its mix of clarity, simplicity, yet with a deep richness from ancient symbolism. Great thinkers such as Carl Jung and Terry Pratchett have suggested there is a kind of collective mind that gives great power to shared symbols and beliefs. The idea is that the more people believe in a symbol, the stronger it becomes.

The Rider-Waite-Smith deck was created in 1909 by Arthur Edward Waite and the artist Pamela Colman Smith. Both were members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a secret society that studied ceremonial magic, astrology and tarot. Waite planned the symbolism, and Smith drew the cards. It was published in London by William Rider & Son, and it’s now the most widely used tarot deck in the world.

Who was Pamela Colman Smith?

Pamela Colman Smith, known to her friends as “Pixie”, drew all 78 cards, creating beautiful detailed drawings of the Fool’s journey (including the Minor and Major Arcana and Court Cards). Waite gave her detailed instructions mainly for the Major Arcana. The scenes on the Minor Arcana came mostly from her own imagination.

This was in contrast to most older decks which showed the minor cards as simple patterns of Cups, Swords, Wands or Pentacles.

She drew the whole deck with rich imagery and deep symbolism from various historical and spiritual traditions in every card. The Wheel of Fortune shows the Egyptian god Anubis and a sphinx. The Emperor’s throne is carved with rams’ heads, the symbol of Aries. The Magician stands in a garden of roses and lilies. Pamela also illustrated books by Yeats and Bram Stoker.

Her name was left off the deck because it was sold under the publisher’s name, Rider. Waite got all the credit as its designer, since he wrote the guide that came with it, while Pamela remained unacknowledged.

Her art earned her little in later life. When she died in 1951, her belongings were sold to pay her debts, and she was probably buried in an unmarked grave.

We want to honour her memory and significant contribution, and adding “Smith” to the deck’s name helps to give her the credit she went without for so long.

Is the Love Queen AI tarot different from ChatGPT? Is it accurate?

Your cards are drawn first, and StormJewel reads them with her own meanings. However as AI isn’t actually psychic, take your reading as guidance and entertainment, and trust your own judgement. To check the helpfulness and ethics of any AI chat reading, see this guide on how to judge an AI psychic reading.
